Seat reservation – Sunday Course – 6 February

Thank you for your support & participation in our online classes for during COVID, where we collectively managed to continue the Dharma teachings in a virtual learning environment.

As ‘face-to-face’ classes are still the preferred way for our members to receive teachings from Lama, and given the COVID situation in Luxembourg has been stabilized, the CCT Board has decided to progressively reopen the centre with proper COVID measures in place. Your health and safety is always our number one priority.

We will first welcome our students to join the Sunday meditation class (18:00-20:00) in person. Considering our centre space, we can accommodate a maximum of 14 students in the class with CovidCheck 2G+ in place.

Please reserve your seat here if you wish to attend the Sunday class in person at the CCT centre. You will need to register for each class prior to your visit. Registration starts every Monday 12:00pm CET and ends by the following Sunday 12:00pm CET

Public Lecture: Buddhism, a Science of the Mind – 20 November

Buddhism, a Science of the Mind

Buddhism is often portrayed as a religion. While it does indeed share common features associated with the world religions, it would be a mistake to reduce it to that. Buddhism differs from other religions in that it does not place its hopes in external gods, preferring instead to focus on the mind as the source of both suffering and happiness. Above all else, Buddhism is a science of the mind, and many of its procedures involve examining the mind according to logical criteria. Whereas, generally speaking, science is concerned with the external world, Buddhism is thus a science focused on an invisible and inner ‘object’. Where it differs from science, at least according to the habitual understanding of the term, is that it focuses on the mind not as an external object localized in the brain to be analysed with machines (as in the way neuroscientists frequently approach it), but as an inner, lived reality. This implies that understanding the mind cannot be based on a third-person approach: we need to look at and examine our own mind, and nobody can do this for us. This approach thus involves personal experience and is based on taking responsibility for our own mental well-being. The practices of mind training and of meditation help us to control our mind and to familiarize ourselves with it, allowing us thereby to recognize its deeper nature.

Tibetan meditation -Discovering inner peace

A series of teachings and fundamentals in meditation

For a general understanding about meditation and how the human mind works.

by Lama Jigmé Namgyal

Life is full of challenges and discomfort, or ‘dis-ease’. The current COVID pandemic makes us poignantly aware of it, producing its own set of physical and metal difficulties. Many of us are facing uncertainties on many levels, be they of personal, professional or societal nature.

Meditation, then, can be a powerful tool to keep both mind and body in a state of healthy equilibrium. In particular, the authentic practice of meditation, based on the ancient wisdom traditions of Asia, trains the mind to not to be disturbed by fleeting emotions or feelings. As such, it is far more than a simple feel-good practice.

When the mind abides in its natural state of calm and clear, we can face challenges with less stress and less worries. This in turn allows us to take wiser decisions, and eventually to free us from suffering and its underlying causes. Furthermore, we will be able to connect with the intrinsic qualities of our being, such as good-heartedness and compassion. Rather than being carried away by the turbulent winds of discursive thoughts and disturbing emotions, we come to discover the sky-like presence of our true nature, which reveals itself like the sun emerging behind the clouds.

Lama Jigmé Namgyal will teach about what authentic meditation is and what the benefits are. These sessions are open to all, irrespective of religious background, nationality or experience in meditation.
