Losar 2023 – Year of the Water Hare/Rabbit

View Post

The Centre Culturel Tibétain wishes you a happy Losar, the Tibetan New Year!

Lama Jigmé sends the following message:

Tashi delek everyone. I wish you all an auspicious and blessed year of the water hare/rabbit. I am sure you all know what Tibetan New Year means, so I will keep it short. Please, as much as you can have compassion for the people who suffer in and from the war and from the earthquake and more. Please pray there may come an end to all this suffering. Practice love and compassion as much as you can and pray for world peace. I would like to remind you of the words of my master Khenchen Jigmé Phuntsok and please put them into practice: “Don’t disturb the mind of others and do not lose your autonomy.” So don’t be weak and never give up your practice.

I wish you all the best, and many tashi deleks to you all!

Phuntsok Namgyal Ling

Meaning “the sacred place of abundance”, Phuntsok Namgyal Ling aspires to be a center dedicated to mindful living. Safeguarding the values of traditional Tibetan living – harmony between land, animal and humanity – and dedicated to the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism, Phuntsok Namgyal Ling will be a place welcoming all individuals looking to make a deeper connection with heaven and earth. Please join us in this vision.

The Phuntsok Namgyal Ling Foundation is currently raising funds to purchase a piece of land in Europe. Ideally, this will be situated in a remote, natural location, with fertile soil to grow crops and keep animals. Whether near the coast or in the mountains, this place will provide a space not only for organic farming, but also a residential meditation retreat centre for monastics and lay practitioners alike.

Chöd Studyweek – 14 to 21 October – Rotterdam (PCL)

Deep teachings on Dudjom Lingpa’s Chöd

During 8 days Lama Jigmé will be teaching about the practice of Chöd. Chöd is a Tibetan word that literally translates into ‘cutting through’. It is practiced as a skillful means to cut through obstacles like our own disruptive emotions, also referred to as inner enemies. These 8 days will allow you to gain self-experience and in thorough understanding of the teachings.

Lama Jigmé teaches from a very short and unbroken, authentic lineage. These teachings encompass the essence of the Mahayana and Sutrayana teachings and can give the practitioner direct insight and experience of the understanding of both the relative and ultimate truth as explained in the Buddha’s Heart Sutra (Prajnaparamita) which states that Form is emptiness. Emptiness is form. Form is not other than emptiness and emptiness is not other than form.

The study week can be followed by anyone who has sufficient knowledge of the basic principles of Buddhism. Because Chöd is a very profound and powerful practice, it is therefore not suitable for people with mental challenges or people who are emotionally unstable. Please act responsible. When in doubt, please contact us.

Introduction to Phowa, Luxembourg, 1-2 October 2022

Phowa (Tibetan: འཕོ་བ) or the transference of consciousness, is a powerful method which enables you, if you practice it well during your life, to transfer your consciousness to a pure field at the time of death. There are many levels of transference. By becoming familiar with this method during your lifetime, the moment of death is no longer something to fear, but rather becomes a moment of spiritual triumph and liberation. As you might know, Lama Jigmé holds some very special instructions from his Phowa master, Akyong Siddhi Tulku, who was an extraordinarily accomplished master of Phowa. It is Lama Jigmé’s deepest wish to share these teachings with those who wish to receive them, and to benefit beings at the most important and most vulnerable moment of their lives, the moment of dying.

Knowledge of Buddhism or experience with meditation is not necessary, the method is suitable for everyone.

Losar 2022 – Year of the Water Tiger

The Centre Culturel Tibétain wishes you a happy Losar, the Tibetan New Year!

Lama Jigmé sends the following message:

Tashi delek!
To all my connections, students and anyone who sees this message I wish you a happy new year. I wish you all the best. And this is not just a wish. Tashi is Tibetan. It is an extremely meaningful word. It means for everything to be peaceful; a peaceful world, a peaceful society, a peaceful family, peaceful work and collogues. And wherever you go, to go  peaceful and be well with a calm and happy mind and a good mood. This is like root power. For your mind to be more lovely, a more loving and kind attitude, so that everywhere you go you’ll accept and enjoy every moment. It is about being peaceful and aware. This is what it means to have a healthy mind. And this way “happy new year” is connected to a happy and well mind. Your family and friends will be happy and wherever you go and whatever you do, no matter what, your mind is always very well and you will manage any challenge. You will be able to easily deal with anything because your mind is extremely calm, powerful and peaceful. Love and compassion, to understand impermanence, all of this is power. You see, “Don’t worry be happy, tomorrow another day.” There are many ways to get a peaceful mind. And with that peaceful mind connect to society, you see, “happy new year” is about this. I wish this all to you. I hope you understand this all. I hope you can integrate your mind training this way. I wish that this Tibetan new year you will contemplate on this in your daily life and share this to benefit others wherever you go.

Tashi delek!

Happy Holidays to you all!

A message from Lama Jigmé Namgyal

I wish you all happy holidays, merry Christmas and a happy New Year! And happy means  having a calm and peaceful mind. It also means having a happy family. Maybe you really know what a happy mind is. I hope you do. My wish is that you will always be well, whatever you do, say or think.

Be in harmony with yourself and others. And take care of your environment, for example buy less plastic. Have respect for our water, air and Mother Earth. Have respect for others, not only for humans but also for animals. In Buddhism it is said that if you respect others, you respect yourself. If you harm others, you harm yourself. Please be mindful, so it will really be a happy new year for all.

If you have not been able to join one of the classes this year, then maybe you can join as of next year. In January will start with a new subject on Monday, and with a new chapter on the Wednesday. No need to hesitate, you are very welcome to join.

Then, from the deepest of my heart I wish you, your family and friends, love, unconditional love and happiness, so that you will understand each other and become happy in a peaceful way.

Hope to see you soon again!

Tashi delek!
Lama Jigmé Namgyal

Tibetan meditation -Discovering inner peace

A series of teachings and fundamentals in meditation

For a general understanding about meditation and how the human mind works.

by Lama Jigmé Namgyal

Life is full of challenges and discomfort, or ‘dis-ease’. The current COVID pandemic makes us poignantly aware of it, producing its own set of physical and metal difficulties. Many of us are facing uncertainties on many levels, be they of personal, professional or societal nature.

Meditation, then, can be a powerful tool to keep both mind and body in a state of healthy equilibrium. In particular, the authentic practice of meditation, based on the ancient wisdom traditions of Asia, trains the mind to not to be disturbed by fleeting emotions or feelings. As such, it is far more than a simple feel-good practice.

When the mind abides in its natural state of calm and clear, we can face challenges with less stress and less worries. This in turn allows us to take wiser decisions, and eventually to free us from suffering and its underlying causes. Furthermore, we will be able to connect with the intrinsic qualities of our being, such as good-heartedness and compassion. Rather than being carried away by the turbulent winds of discursive thoughts and disturbing emotions, we come to discover the sky-like presence of our true nature, which reveals itself like the sun emerging behind the clouds.

Lama Jigmé Namgyal will teach about what authentic meditation is and what the benefits are. These sessions are open to all, irrespective of religious background, nationality or experience in meditation.
