Yangmo Tso Yangmo Tso is a young Tibetan singer who is performing regularly and with great joy on special occasions such as Dalai Lama’s birthday, Tibetan New Year, weddings or Tibetan special days.

Brendan HeartyBrendan Hearty‘s early years brought him under the influence of legendary Louth fiddle player Peter McArdle playing in Marks bar, Dundalk, where many of the country’s finest musicians gathered during the early seventies. He has toured with many fine musicians in Europe, USA and Australia. Brendan’s interest in early American traditional music led to his involvement with The Higgler’s Jug Band with whom he recorded two albums. Brendan is a unique singer and song writer, and fronts the Brendan Hearty Band, well known in the West of Ireland. He also performs regularly with Andrew MacNamara.

Oliver Tennyson Oliver Tennyson plays mandolin, concertina and harmonica. He sings traditional and original self penned compositions. He also makes mandolins and works in the visual arts.

Oliver and Brendan first met more than forty years ago and share a simple love and respect for music which is grounded and hopefully without contrivance.

Lama Jigmé Namgyal visit to Ireland 9th to 16th April 2015

Once more we are happy to announce that Lama Jigmé Namgyal will be giving teachings in Ireland in April.

A weekend course based on ‘The Seven Points of Mind Training’ will take place on Sat 11th and Sun 12th April at Center, Feakle, County Clare.

This text on mind training, called lojong in Tibetan, was brought to Tibet by Atisha in the eleventh century. Its purpose is to help bring about a change of perspective by freeing the mind from the tyranny of self-grasping which Buddhists believe to be the root cause of suffering. These teachings can be enjoyed by everyone, for those with some knowledge of Buddhism and for newcomers.

Developing Compassion – Study Retreat (Netherlands)Developing Compassion – Study Retreat (Netherlands)

Phuntsok Chö Ling, Tibetan Buddhist Centre in Rotterdam, organizes one week study retreat led by Lama Jigmé Namgyal.

It will take place in the beautiful woods of Oosterhout, Netherland. Lama Jigmé will give profound instructions on developing compassion. As long as we continue to focus primarily on our own desires and needs we can never find true happiness and conquer our negative emotions and disturbances. True happiness arises through benefiting others. That is why compassion is the source of true happiness for ourselves and others.

Fall Retreat 2014 (Netherlands) – Wisdom and DevotionRetraite d’automne 2014 (Pays-Bas) – la sagesse et le dévouement

Phuntsok Chö Ling, Tibetan Buddhist Centre in Rotterdam, organizes one week retreat led by Lama Jigmé.

The topic of this year’s fall retreat is Wisdom and Devotion. With regards to wisdom, there are two levels of truth according to Buddhist teachings: relative and ultimate truth. How do we recognise and develop these?

How can their recognition be beneficial for our daily lives? Ultimate reality is obscured by conceptual thought and our dualistic mind. This gives rise to a relative and distorted perception of reality. With his unique sense of humour and ability to translate Buddhist teachings into a Western frame of thinking, Lama Jigmé will clarify this process and increase our understanding of the matter, enriching our practice. Focussing on others through devotion is also of great benefit for our lives. However, this is easier said than done. Throughout the teachings, Lama Jigmé will elaborate on the many benefits of generating devotion – both for ourselves and others – and he will explain the method of practicing this form of altruism.
