KUM NYE – Tibetan Yoga (Spring)

We are pleased to inform you that the Tibetan Cultural Centre will be hosting a KUM NYE – Tibetan Yoga course.

KUM NYE was introduced to the Western world in the early 1970s by Lama Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche. It is based on 3 roots:

1) Traditional Tibetan Medicine
2) Tibetan Yoga system of Nying-thig tsa-lung (Yoga of subtle energies)
3) Buddhist scriptures of the Vinaya (guidance on leading a harmonious life internally and externally)

By engaging in Kum Nye’s sitting postures, movement exercises, breathing techniques, self-massages, and mantra recitations, the mind relaxes, the senses open, and the heart awakens. Tensions dissolve, allowing energy to flow freely in both body and mind. The resulting calm and energized state can expand and reveal the joy and beauty of simply “just being”.

The instructor, Nicole Bechtold, is a certified Kum Nye Yoga teacher who received her training from Matthias Steurich (1947-2021) in 2010 and 2011.

” Bring all of yourself into the form of the exercise. Kum Nye becomes a dance in which you participate totally. ” – Tharthang Tulku
